The Tesla Optimus Gen 2 is Tesla's second-generation humanoid robot designed to automate repetitive, hazardous, and labor-intensive tasks in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, retail, and future home environments. Featuring advanced AI, custom Tesla actuators, tactile sensing hands, and a lightweight humanoid design, Optimus represents one of the most ambitious robotics projects currently under development.
Compared with the first-generation prototype, Gen 2 is lighter, faster, smoother, and significantly more dexterous. Tesla has demonstrated capabilities including object handling, balancing, walking, squatting, sorting parts, and delicate manipulation tasks. The robot is currently being deployed within Tesla factories as part of large-scale real-world testing.
